Sumario: This paper is part of a doctoral research entitled ‘The sound nature of urban life: noise and everyday life in Mexico City’ whose main goal is approaching to the relationship between the imaginary of noise and urban lifestyle from an anthropological perspective. The discussion on private space concept is essential in this research because the intrusive nature of noise is built in this social life field and becomes a (physical, subjective and social) problem. This paper is a theoretical discussion for the analysis of field information on the way sound element’s spatial nature unsettles the private space’s ideal performance.
