Sumario: This article makes the genealogy of the catholic nationalist thought in Argentina in order to underline its impact over General Onganía government when the national question had been settle as central topic in the Argentinean political discussion. The main hypothesis argues that the strong gap between politics and economy produced a discursive mood that helped the reception of political discourse of General Onganía. This discourse was the result of catholic nationalism and economic liberalism symbiosis that recovered a tradition opened by intellectuals of La Nueva República. We conclude that Onganía’s corporatism was not a new political propose.
