Sumario:  This article introduces recommendations for the dental care of patients infected with HIV/ AIDS, and the norms to prevent and control incidents, work accidents and infections related to the dental practice. The recommendations are based on current standards for infection control and the preparation of medical records from the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC), the U.S. Occupational Security and Health Administration (OSHA), the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Colombian Ministry of Health.
