Sumario: In this document present the fault diagnosis in transmission lines using the algorithm Relief. Fault diagnosis is mainly divided into: fault detection, directionality of the fault, the fault classification, fault location and cause of the failure; this study is addressed into fault detection and classification in transmission lines and determination of faulty phases, for this a feature selection method (algorithm Relief) is used. Transmission lines allow transport energy from generation centers to the main points of distribution of electricity, according to this the optimum performance is vital for the power system. Fault diagnosis can detect the fault line and phases in addition to classify the most common fault types can make decisions to minimize the line failure. Relief algorithm analyzes the electrical data of which will be 2 delivered: the line fails, the phases of the line fault and the fault type. The document is structured as follows: at the beginning the state of the art is presented, various methods or algorithms that have been used for fault diagnosis. Later a brief description of Relief and classification algorithm based on evaluation of features. Finally a practical application (case study) in which the algorithm is applied to identify the faulty line and classify the fault is performed. Finally conclusions and future work are obtained in the research are presented.
