Sumario: This elaboration presents the progress of inclusive education for students with intellectual disabilities at the Salesian Polytechnic University, through the case study of a young woman with the disability. In this research the qualitative methodology was used, which through the mapping, the field diary, the anecdotary and the direct observation were obtained the necessary. Information, demonstrating the achievements obtained through the accompaniment and mentoring between peers that were developed in period 49 and 50. Points out the education offered to people with intellectual disabilities in Ecuador, especially at the Salesian Polytechnic University. In order to achieve this goal, a theoretical framework on inclusive education and the laws that support it are drawn up. Challenges facing the university as an inclusive educational community by having students who have intellectual disabilities. In this university, the inclusive model seeks to completely overcome traditional models of education through a change in the concept and practice in which teachers and students participate in order to eliminate attitudinal, social, methodological barriers and prejudices around disability to achieve equality and a complete inclusion building a better university
