Sumario: The high demand for disposable containers, generally of polymeric characteristics (plastic), is having a serious impact on the environment due to the pollution they produce. The lack of recycling programs in Ecuador, which allow adequate management and subsequent processing, aggravates this problem even more. This project is presented through a basic and applied research of a descriptive nature thus, is generated a device that contributes to the care and respect for the environment in our society, managing to reduce the environmental impact produced by the consumption of plastic. The objective of this work is to design a prototype of automation in a machine capable of processing plastic bottles by reducing their thickness (up to 11 mm), making it easier to collect them. In the present study, all the physical variables that intervene in the reduction process are considered as: force required for volume reduction, necessary power, besides the cost, quality, versatility, ergonomics and selection of each of the elements that make up the equipment. In the beginning, the compaction system is carried out by means of spiked rollers, which are driven by a 2HP power reduction motorcycle. This equipment is ideal to be located in strategic places where there is a greater inflow of people; like malls, universities, schools and public institutions. It is proposed to foster a culture of recycling through economic retribution or consumption coupons in local sponsors that wish to support this proposal.
