Through years of engineering it has contributed to improving the quality of life of the population generating changes in the social and environmental perspective, seeking solutions to problems in an integrated and sustainable manner.
With this project we sought to make the analysis of IRCA and its relationship with meteorological variables (precipitation and temperature) for the departments of Risaralda and Quindio in 2012 -2013, whereafter the respective recommendations to be made to the companies providing , community and SIVICAP; taking into account the information provided and consulted secondary sources.
The execution of the project lasted six months from approval and consisted of six phases: first a search and information gathering in the study area and on the issue of the project was prepared, well defined criteria data selection. In the second and third phase respectively the correlation between parameters that make up the IRCA and between meteorological variables chosen was performed with the index; in the fourth phase, the information is processed and expressed in the form of thematic maps for each year; in the fifth phase he was qualitatively interpreted and compared according to the companies providing the Service. Finally, in the sixth phase the respective recommendations was raised.
As a result of the first goal, it was shown that the information provided by the SIVICAP for departments had abnormalities, because the calculation of IRCA was not performed according to Resolution 2115 of 2007, also of twenty-two (22) parameters set in the standard only 14 of them were measured in 2012, and the following year to Quindio two additional parameters are presented, while for Risaralda only 12 were reported.
It was found that the parameters are presented strong relationship turbidity, alkalinity, color, total coliform, E. coli, total iron, calcium, hardness, sulfates present high correlations with the parameters calcium, total hardness, conductivity, and pH as sulfates the conductivity among others, for the two departments.
In fulfilling the second objective it was determined that there was no correlation between meteorological variables (precipitation and temperature) and the index, because these variables do not directly affect the treatment carried out within the water treatment plant.
To fulfill the second objective an extensive literature review which determined that weather variables precipitation and temperature does not directly affect the quality of the resource within the treatment plant was made because during these factors are controlled, according to above the calculation of correlations taking as criteria that the values were taken after the distribution network where you can alter the index-related causes atypical storage conditions and driving appeal it was made on each farm.
It is important to emphasize that there is included a number of representative stations and existing did not have the required information, why only be able to establish weak and moderate correlations for the municipalities of Pereira, Pueblo Rico, Santa Rosa de Cabal and Sanctuary for the department of Risaralda and Armenia, Pijao and Salento Quindio department.
In the ultimate objective thematic maps they were developed taking into account the annual IRCA for each of the service providers, allowing the approximate location of these and the corresponding range from the indicator, and the representation of the isohyets for each department.
Finally recommendations for service companies, the environmental authorities and the public in order to provide improvements that can be applied in the calculation and analysis of IRCA were raised. |
