Hospitals are places where people go to meet their illnesses and situations where patients incur additional diseases that already suffers, which are known as nosocomial infections are also present. These infections are responsible for diseases that can even cause death of the host. To minimize cases of infection, the law provides surveillance systems biological control requires hospitals to take steps to ensure the welfare of staff and patients attending these features. Nosocomial infections also affect small animals, so these measures also apply to veterinary centers.
The indoor air quality or domiciliary, space is one of the most important factors in the quality of life of individuals as we move from 80 to 90% of our time indoors (EPA, 2002). No comprehensive studies on air quality in different human centers (hospitals, schools, supermarkets, offices, factories, etc.) and also in veterinary centers (hospitals, clinics, doctors) to enable identifying what the situation on the subject.
Veterinarians theaters have a technology leader in many cases comparable to human medicine operating rooms, though rarely air quality, especially particulate concentrations are controlled whose presence is a major source of infections. In terms of aseptic it is not enough to clean walls, surfaces and materials. The air knife is in contact with the surface intrinsic patient and carries pathogens. Veterinary operating rooms in most cases contain particulate levels much higher (up to 90 times more) of desirable to ensure adequate air quality in which operations are performed. Furthermore, these levels are greatly influenced by the circumstances of the day, as the number of patients in the clinic, the number of hospitalized animals, the nature of the surgery or the existence of hairdressing services (Gonzalez, 2014).
The following research is to determine the quality of indoor air through the characterization of bacteria by sampling with the team MAS-100 in addition to the tools, equipment, houses, offices, waiting rooms and operating rooms of the Veterinary Clinic of the University of La Salle before and after the disinfection process. Subsequently, the biochemical identification of microorganisms isolated using VITEK®, the analysis detected the presence of the bacterial genera Bacillus and Staphylococcus, being the most common genera in the areas
analyzed was made; as Bacillus circulans species and Staphylococcus intermedius bacteria classified as higher pathogenicity found. With the results of air quality present at the Clinic we were determined and proceeded to make relevant recommendations and adjustments to disinfection procedures and biosafety Clinic.
