In spite of the published information concerning earth architecture,its techniques, and its state of art, little attention has beengiven to the area of conservation practice based on the theory ofconservation. This article aims at reviewing conservation theoryprinciples and reasons and their analyses through the earth architectureperspective. In the first part of the article, there is an approachto the Cultural Heritage, followed by conceptual definitions andconservation actions, as well as documental references related tothe “restoration” bases, international charts and Brandi’s Theory.Subsequently, Values and Significance are also analysed, as wellas the factors that enhance them and the Principles for ConservationRecommendations. Some of the Pathologies and Diagnosisare enhanced, followed by some examples of Methodologies ofintervention, and finally, Heritage Management Plans. |
