Sumario: This paper explores lines of analysis for the study of the urban modernization projects in Latin America with an emphasis in the search of comparative criteria among two particular realities: México City and Bogotá. Instead of pointing common characteristics in the processes lived by these two cities, we propose some lines of analysis for comparative history rejecting theoretical dualities and the critical observation of the urban modernization’s obstacles.
