This article shows the anti-Communist image present in the French Diplomatic Documents (between 1945-1952), principally as written by the French Ambassador in Colombia, Jaques Lecompte. The article demonstrates whow the anti-Communist argument was utilized to explain Colombian social movements and, particularly, the assassination of Jorge Eliecér Gaitán in 1948. Vega bases his arguments on the "French Diplomatic Archives" which have only recently been opened to researchers. |
