This article presents the results of interpretive documentary research work. Its purpose was to identify topics, research approaches, theoretical referents, and other approaches to the relationship established between communication and development in 29 research papers done in Colombian Social Communication Schools. To begin with, we use as our theoretical framework the evolution of the concept of development (vis-à-vis communication) from the 1950’s onwards. Next, we describe the main characteristics and trends of this concept in different universities and in the midst of our complex national context. Finally, we propose methodological, thematic, and possible theoretical paths that could contribute to strengthen the area of communication and development in continuous construction. |
