Through this interview, the president of the Latin American Association of Communication Researchers (alaic) presents what the evolution of communication research has been like during the different stages of communication studies in Latin America. The importance of interdisciplinarity and dialogue with social sciences in this process is emphasized. The interview describes how the presence of structural problems in the region has grown in the communication research agenda: democracy strengthening, environmental problems, human rights, the scope and use of Information and Communication Technologies (itcs) by different social sectors, and so on. It also stresses the need to recuperate the critical sense of the epistemology of communication in graduate communication curricula. |
