Sumario: This text presentation is based on an ethnographic research amongst the A'uwẽ-Xavante people: “Datsi'a'uwẽdzé – to become and not to become human in Central Brazil” (doctoral thesis defended on 2012– Social Anthropology, University of São Paulo). Debating with ethnographic and anthropological production, I address the a'uwẽ-xavante conceptions of humanity and personhood seeking to understand the process of its ongoing constitution and its effects on the very person of the ethnographer and his work.
