Sumario: Introduction: The intravenous proton pump inhibitors (IV BPI) are widely use drugs in many diseases; which treatment is based in intragastric pH control. It use is progressively increasing, and sometimes is formulated without the adequate criteria for its use, which represents a problem in economy in the health system plus the possibility of secondary effects.Objective: To evaluate if in Hospital Universitario San Ignacio the formulation of this drugs by the health personnel is adequate, if so to strengthen this characteristic or otherwise create solutions to this problem.Materials and Methods: A descriptive study was conducted in which 300 patients were formulated with IV PBI and was evaluated the indication y description of the formulation to establish if the administration of these drugs was or wasn’t appropriate.Results: We found that in the 59.7 % of the cases was inadequate, a similar figure informed in the literature. The department where was frequently cases of inadequate formulation was internal medicine including intensive care unit which is explained because these services did most of the formulation.
