Sumario: The monuments and places of memory built in Chile to remember the human rights violations that occurred during the military dictatorship (1973-1990) contribute to the construction of hegemonic versions of these events. which have the effect of producing a “truth” about the facts. This article discusses the results of a research conducted at Santiago de Chile and shows how visitors of these places of memory relate to the space and interpret its materiality as a “proof of truth”.
