Sumario: This paper presents a proposal for standardization in the inspection process of the finished product for a company of finished leather to identify measure and control quality defects in the product sector and affects the decrease in the percentage of Returns and rework. For the development of the proposal makes use of tools such as Colombian technical standards, checklists, cause-effect diagram, Pareto chart, PHVA methodology, control charts among others; the purpose of the inspection procedure to perform compliance, allowing error-generating activities identified in the process and establish actions to solve nonconformities presented and prevent its future presence. Also with this project it is to present an alternative of improvement that would assist in increasing the quality standards of processed products and consequently generate contributions for small businesses in the leather sector. The results of the implementation of the proposed quality improvement in the company MCD between June 2015 and November of the same year, demonstrate the feasibility of it by the 28.7% reduction in defects in raw material 44, 6% in the recorded defects and 40% in the finished product defects.
