Sumario: This research aimed to know the meaning of work in people living in hearing disabilities in the city of Cali, the meaning of work was addressed from the concept of utility and virtue attributed to the work by the research subjects with hearing disabilities. The conceptual reference that supports this research was taken from theory Fernando Diez, on the concept of work as a virtue and usefulness, and Fernando Gonzalez Rey to lay the basis for definition of subjective sense, to anchor the Meaning of work concept. Methodologically one qualitative study was performed with descriptive scope, using a semi-structured interview, in which he participated an interpreter of sign language, for interviews to 4 subjects in condition of hearing impairment, the school education center deaf "Maria Nuria Sacasas ASORVAL" who serve as teachers, with a formal contract within an organization, users is sign language have no other disability associated with deafness. The findings allow us to conclude that the person hearing impaired condition, the work is just a means for productive consequence of economic sustenance, but also in securing a place and a role in society. The work has a utility in these subjects as it helps build personal fulfillment.
