Sumario: This work is aimed at exploring the concept of repetition, from its origins in psychoanalysis, and in turn assess their relevance to the theory and clinical practice. They are covered in the work of Freud fundamental texts for this purpose, of which the main axis guiding is the play "Remembering, Repeating and Working" of 1914 and the development of the principles established therein, with other works of Freud complements different periods of development of the theory of the unconscious. In relation to clinical practice cases and historical situations that helped consolidate psychoanalytic technique, and keep it consistent with psychoanalytic theories of mental functioning are described. In psychotherapy the role the pleasure principle, transfer and Development is reviewed. In addition it is to show the parallel between repetition and performing arts.
