Sumario: The accelerated population aging is causing vast changes in the composition of the age pyramid to the point to get it inverted, thus generating great challenges for health insurance companies like Suramericana S.A., which will have to design products and coverages to meet the care needs of the elderly. For that reason, analyzing the expectations, needs and interests of the elderly insured at Suramericana S.A. in the city of Medellin in the health products, will allow the company to develop and implement strategies to mitigate the impact of the accelerated demographic transition that face the city in the coming years. Some impacts that generate this phenomenon for the company are the high costs of the policies and the increase of the elderly population at risk and chronic diseases costs.
