Sumario: The model for the management of design in furniture SMEs of the Metropolitan Area responds to the companies' need to generate differentiation to cope with the dynamics of globalization that involves having competitors from all over the world. This phenomenon has led companies to seek strategies to integrate into global markets, reflected in a constant desire to innovate and to integrate design as a dynamic for the development of new products. The incorporation of the design in SMEs, impacts in social terms, because the people who participate in the process are mostly graduates who have not had advanced training, but who are involved in the development of new products, therefore It is sought that they are participants in the processes of creation of the companies. Also, it is important to highlight the contribution made by SMEs to the economy, in terms of employment generation and the increase of productive units that can be affected as long as these increase their competitive advantage, so it is essential that companies involve models Of management of design that help in the generation of suitable products to compete globally and in environmental terms to guarantee the permanence and sustainability of the companies. This is why this research proposes a model of management of design that allows to enhance the creative capacities of people in SMEs, this involved knowing the creative process within companies, characterize employees in terms of training and finally build a tool that facilitates the management of the design for the development of new products.
