This research analyses the role of women in society in India, in the light of the most ancient testimonies belonging to two different traditions. On the one hand, from a western point of view, this means, from the reports that arose as a consequence of the first contacts between India and the Greco-Latin world. It is also analyzed in sources such as Vedism, Brahmanism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Women are analyzed in their roles of daughters, mothers, wives, and in particular as widows. |
