Sumario: Objective. The overall purpose of this research was to characterize the family structure of the original family of three women, adults who considered themselves "addicted" to the casino in the city of Cali, Colombia. Method. This was a qualitative, descriptive study of interpretive and crosscutting by way of case study, based on in-depth interviews of three women who met the conditions, to be of age and considered themselves as "addicted" to casino. Results. It is shown that these women come from families of origin with very rigid limits; these families being detached type, aspect that leaves little evidence and affective distant relationships within the family system, plus a few channels of communication. Also, for most cases, especially, ratios greater distance in the mother-daughter dyad, because these mothers were stronger and hostile to them and reveal that the fathers themselves, most of whom were abusers.
