Sumario: In this study we determined –by using the spectrophotometric method proposed by Hans-mann and an analysis of variance with Fisher-distribution– the phytotoxicity of the carrier or fixer of butyl amide, polivinyl pyrrolidone (PVP), with 15 two-month old sugar cane seedlings of range PR 61-632, with a concentration of 4,000 ppm. The polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) showed no morphological alterations in the seedling to this value and therefore could be used as a carrier of the 4,5-dihydro-piperlonguminina. For the analysis of the results we applied the statistical method of Henderson-Tilton, from which the insecticide effect of the 4,5-dihydro-piperlonguminina was tested and those solutions that showed mortalities above 97% were classified as the best formulations.
