The purpose of this article is to reflect upon how interdisciplinarity is understood in social sciences, by differentiating at first an “interdisciplinarity of fact” from an “interdisciplinarity of right;” that is, the legitimized and idealized one as a methodological and epistemological option in the current development of social sciences. These disciplines had to state their identities along with the consolidation of their emergence, but given their current level of development, it is necessary and inevitable to overcome initial obstacles and integrate them both at inter and transdisciplinary levels. Additionally, we discuss both what interdisciplinarity is and what it is not, raising the implications of this scientific effort. Psychoanalysis is taken as an example of interdisciplinarity. |
