This text aims to make a theoretical and methodological reflection on ethnography as a research method in psychology, inspired by the work of Clifford Geertz, in his famous book “Notes on the Balinese cockfight (1998), which presents the way on how the insight examination fosters the understanding and interpretation of cultures. This classic text, considered innovator for being one of the first academic texts written in first person, considering their individual perspective, typical of ethnographic studies, leads to academic reflection presented here, with the interest of synthesizing conditions and requirements that characterize the attitude of the researcher ethnographer and the contribution that this methodology makes to the traditional methods in psychology, using the resource of personal experience, just to indicate the similarities and distances that the experiences “from the inside” have with ethnographic research . |
