The advances in the field of Electronics over the last decades are undeniable and are strictly related to the development of printed circuit boards (PCBs). In fact, any electronic device is made of one or more circuit boards. Since, the manual techniques for designing and building a PCB is often expensive, prone to human error and it can even damage the environment, CNC (computer numerical control) machines are used to avoid such inconveniences by optimizing the overall manufacture process and reducing production times. The correct use of CNC machines requires the definition of a protocol which it will be the focus of this work. The protocol is understood as a series of steps that begin from the original conception of the desired circuit up to the final product. The designed protocol will be used as an instruction manual in future projects, related with building PCBs on campus. After a brief introduction and outlook on the problem, a wide theoretical framework is presented covering different aspects such as design criteria, industrial security regulations and PCB recycling techniques. Next up, the mentioned protocol is detailed followed by a description of the test carried out. As part of the research, the workshop performed on members of the Engineering faculty assessing the results through a survey. Lastly, the conclusions on the overall work are given. |
