Sumario: The objective of this paper is to expose some projects, based on the free-hardware Arduino board, which are aimed for detecting and/or monitoring seismic risks. This research focuses on identifying strategies that use free-access tools in order to early detect potential risks, in addition to monitoring and searching for people in disasters. Another focus of interest is verifying the benefits regarding time and reaction time when interacting with these issues. In order to meet the objective a bibliographic review was performed involving research projects conducted during the last five years which emphasize on the use of Arduino for managing seismic risks. As the main conclusion of this research we highlight the constant evolution of seismic systems because of the use of emerging technologies which improve their implementation, using reply services like SMS in cell phones and/or email.
