This research worked the methodology of the Precautions Adoption Process (PAP) in order to modify three risk substance abuse factors (information about psychoactive substances, assertiveness, and resist group pressure) in school children. An assessment method was designed to permit to classification of the participants original position about their behavior in each of the risk factors. Workshops were also designed to modify each risk factor according to the PAP procedures for every stage. Therefore, the participants had suitable workshops depending oh the stage they were classified at the beginning. The design was experimental. The experimental group had 120 participants and the control group 105 participants. The instruments were: an overall assessment pre-post of each risk factor in order to get a stage classification. The results showed thet there was not a strict progress stage sequence as the PAP points out. In the experimental group, more subjects reached the final stage although they presented a high perceived vulnerability ath the beginning, contrary to the hyphotesis. Neither, there were differences between pre and posts measures, except for the group pressure variable. |
