Sumario: This article seeks to bring together and expand the discussion on the contradiction between the crisis in number of students admitted to the agricultural faculties in Colombia, from the last decade of the 20th century, and the potential for food production, expressed by organizations such as FAO, OECD, and table of talks Havana, supported by indicators such as availability of land, abundance of water, biodiversity, rains and labor regime. While investigations of these organisms are the agricultural sector as a great motivator, the country’s development plans emphasize and apply resources to other sectors of the economy.
