Sumario: This paper proposes the Support Vector Machines (SVM) use as tool that allows us to locate the type of fault that can occur in the electrical distribution system, with the presence of Distributed Generation (GD). This approach is based on the measurement of the RMS voltages in both the substation and at the points where the distributed generators are onnected and will be used as descriptors for the SVM, to illustrate the proposed methodology was considered the IEEE 34-bar circuit in which two generators are connected in which the energy penetration will be varied through the short-circuit impedance all types of faults were simulated and the database was constructed using the ATPDraw software. The results show a range of accuracy from 70% to 100% in locating faults, showing that distributed generators increase the accuracy of the vector support machines.
