Sumario: A common problem that arises in society is the pollution generated by diesel cars because of the large amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere, in recent years the concentration of CO2 has increased considerably causing global warming, a method that is used to reduce environmental impact caused by carbon dioxide are chemical filters but have a drawback with their short shelf life. In this paper we present a method to reduce CO2 emissions, based on studies of electrostatic precipitators we developed a prototype electrostatic filter to be installed at the end of the exhaust system of a diesel car with the aim of reducing the emission of carbon dioxide to the environment. The purpose of the electrostatic filter is the collection of particles through an ionization process, there are several methods to ionize particles depending on their diameter but based on a previous study on this subject we opted for the most efficient method that is the corona effect, this has the characteristic of separating particles of a very small size. In order to produce the crown effect it is necessary to generate high voltage to be connected to two electrodes, an emitter or also known as a discharge electrode and a collector which collects the separated particles, With a device that measures the particles per million of carbon dioxide that exist in the air, with a device that measures the particles per million of carbon dioxide that exist in the air was demonstrated that to have installed the electrostatic filter in diesel cars was reduced a percentage of their CO2 emissions.
