The research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the existing social and environmental conflicts in the territory of the Afro-Ecuadorian Comuna Rio Santiago Cayapas, located in the cantons of Eloy Alfaro and San Lorenzo in the province of Esmeraldas; from the analysis of social, political, economic, cultural and environmental aspects that affects their current reality.
The initial approach begins with a theoretical dissertation of the fundamental thesis of the development model, the modern capitalist world system, the configuration of nation-states, the extractive and neo- extractive model, the environmental conflicts and the importance of territory as a structural element in the construction of their identity. |
