At present, the induction motors are the most used machine in the industry for their broad range and diverse applications. Factories and buildings of great potential that require to move, lift or transport any type of material, are using these type of machines because of its ease of installation and robustness. It is the reason why the detection of incipient faults is very important, incipient faults such as: breakdown voltage between turns of the same phase damaged bearings, eccentricity and broken rotor bars, allowing to avoid unplanned shutdowns by performing preventive maintenance and thus extending the life of the engine. The present paper seeks to diagnose the incipient faults that may occur in the induction motors using the Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA for its acronym in English), method in which the current of the three phases is analyzed and using the Hilbert transform, the current obtained is transformed from a function of time to a function of frequency. This action let us to determine what type of fault could happen in the engine, and take the necessary measures to control it. In order to perform the experiment, two induction motors were used. The first three failures with a 3 HP motor and the remaining failure with a 1.5 HP motor. |
