Sumario: In the present technical project, "DESIGN AND SIMULATION OF A STEAM DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM FOR THE PRODUCTION PROCESSES OF THE COMPANY "INDUSTRIAL TEXTILES TORNASOL Cia. Ltda."", a brief description of the production processes for the preparation, dyeing, pressing, drying, calendering and compacting of knitted fabrics is made. The study focuses primarily on the processes that use steam as a heat source for the design of the steam distribution system covered by the project. The design covers the distribution of water vapor through a network of pipes carrying steam from the boilers to a main manifold and from this, through separate carbon steel pipes, to different equipment. Empirical formulas for calculating the diameters and thermal insulation for both the steam distribution network and the network of condensate return with their respective equipment and accessories were applied. They were considered as baseline data the mass flows of the boilers, the requirement of steam and condensate volume generated on the lines of the distribution network and on each machine in the process. The validation of the results was performed using specialized software process simulation through mathematical models that provide qualitatively and quantitatively the inputs and outputs of each process.
