Sumario: This research shows the evaluation of 3 different species of aquatic fern Azolla in relation to the fixation of atmospheric nitrogen in the form of nitrite (NO- 2) and nitrates (NO- 3) happens in the culture water of this fern, growth and productivity in aquatic ecosystems in the area of Cayambe. The treatments used studied species: Azolla mexicana, A. caroliniana and A. filiculoides, which in turn interacted with the dose of culture at 10 g., 15 g. and 20 g. And this additional factor was included at doses 0 g. served to determine the presence or absence of water fern influence in setting these two chemical species of nitrogen to water crops. We evaluated the growth of Azolla, weight in grams that reached each of the 3 species studied, and determined the productivity in tons / day per hectare from cultivation to harvest on 12.
