This essay is a travel through the semiotic process hidden in the classic character of Sherlock Holmes. It is a window that allows to understand the logic process inside in the amazing london detective’s guesses, and how the reasoning, despite of following a systematic process, becomes true only if the reality’s assessment is accurate. Also, this work explains how the semiotic is part of every moment that involves Sherlock’s fiction world, the semiotic elements that made of character, the way how the principal transcends the books to be a symbol in the society, and the processes of re-meaning that permit to integrate the symbol in new generations. Finally, this investigation allows the readers to appreciate detective’s literature, in special the canon of Sherlock Holmes, since an academic perspective, that separate the plot of the novels and short stories to evidence how the signs are connect with others signs, the difference between them, and the importance that every kind of symbol has in the crime scene. In add, their correct interpretation is conditioned by the observation technique, life experiences, an integral reasoning process, and the logic; being this last one the essence of the Victorian society, that Sherlock Holmes represents through their adventures. |
