This report systematizes and enables a deeper understanding of the process of
empowerment of seven women, between 20-40 years, who are victims of domestic
violence. They participated in the short-term group intervention, between the months
of May to July of 2015, in Centro de Equidad y Justicia Calderón.
It has taken into account three categories of analysis for the empowerment of
the women participants: Decision making, Self-confidence and Participation. For
group work, it was considered the therapeutic factors proposed by Yalom (1996),
present in the group process, such as Cohesiveness, Universality, Catharsis, and
Interpersonal learning.
A mixed approach was used for the systematization. Data collection was
performed using tools such as diary, participant observation and two scales; one
evaluates the type and frequency of violence, and the second the level of
empowerment. Were able to integrate and discover the meaning of all information
collected enabling greater understanding of the experience, also identified the
difficulties experienced throughout the process and recommendations for them to be
taken into account in future similar group interventions. Following the intervention, a
decrease in the frequency of violent acts, and the contribution of therapeutic factors
to the empowerment of women participants were evident. |
