Sumario: The present paper presents the results of the comparison between the production of a high efficiency photovoltaic system and a conventional system. The objective is to make known the differences of the photovoltaic generations systems by using real data of solar radiation, temperature of the photocells on the year 2015, obtained thanks to the photovoltaic generation center “Gran Solar”, located in the city of Salinas, province Imbabura, Ecuador, by the modeling and software Matlab/Simulink, the technical characteristics of conventional and high efficiency panels were introduced to observe the energy production of the different panels. The model is proven with real data of power generated, which provides an aid for future works on the behavior, efficiency, energy production a number of panels to be installed between a high efficiency systems and conventional ones. In the future, the high efficiency systems propose a solution to reduce the cost of photovoltaic energy, by means of the concentration of the sun.
