Sumario: In this research project, it will be appreciated the development of a tool based on the methodology of Material Requirement Planning (MRP), focused on management and control of packaging materials inventory in the company Amcor Rigid Plastics Ecuador S.A. located in the city of Guayaquil. The MRP methodology is often used in industrial companies that have production lines with requirements of different parts or components to keep their operation activities; that means, the productions lines don´t required only raw materials. The main sources of information for the tool mentioned are the Master Production Schedule (MPS) that company develops monthly and regulates weekly according to demand´s changes or unforeseen events, such as damage in the machinery, in this way coordinates and executes its production processes according to the plan, and the Bill of Materials (BOM) that are detailed in the software of the company. Within this project also it is explained the main components involved into supply chain management, and how they affect to the cost and to the level of service transmitted to the final customer. With the development of the tool based on MRP methodology it is seeked the elimination of inventory breaks, that means, to avoid storage stocks reach to zero, also to procure not to keep excessive inventory levels of packaging materials stored, because they could be exposed to damage and couldn´t be used in the production processes of the company; additionally it is intended to carry out the timely organization of the necessary resources to receive shipments according to the schedule with the suppliers.
