Sumario: The following article presents the development of a coherent transmission system prototype, whose purpose was to characterize and measure the system’s performance by sending data with DPSK modulation. This took place over a passive optical network (passive optical network - PON) in real-time, using Matlab™ for the digital signal processing (DSP). We obtained performance parameters as the Bit Error Rate (BER) and the Error Vector Magnitude (EVM). Data transmitted at 10 Gb/s, Back to Back (BtoB) and with an optical link of 20, 45 and 70 km of G652D single-mode fiber, were received using a homodyne and heterodyne coherent detection system. The sensitivity of the receiver was around - 20.9 dBm for homodyne and -20.3 dBm and for heterodyne, for a goal BER of which corresponds to a 47% EVM.
