The territorial and social configuration of Quito city answer to a very social, political, economic and cultural phenoms, each one of these have influenced in the process of urbanization and in the configuration of certain areas inside the city. Therefore the land use in the Metropolitan District has been constantly a factor of exclusion, segregation, and gentrification. In this sense the south part of the City has been a temporarily space marked by the class and by the neoliberal process, strategies that have influenced the daily life of its inhabitants.
The process of urbanization posed from particular interests generates in the inhabitants of the south part of the City, proposal for social, political and cultural claim. In the cultural sphere arise the disputes for the occupation of the space from the subaltern plaintiffs, generally stigmatized and stereotyped. In this context the present essay aims to investigate: How is social and geographical exclusion exercised since the case factory discotheque?
Consider that the incident at the discotheque factory provide us the elements that in one way, pay to the discussion and dialogue from other perspectives and on the other brings us closer to the reality of a cultural proposal that on April 19th, 2008 left 19 people dead and several with second and third degree burns. The research work responds to the qualitative method mediated by ethnography and the techniques of participant observation and interviews. The obtained results at the end of this investigation show us that the incident occurred in the factory discotheque also responds to factors of exclusion and segregation.
