The study analyzes the positive and negative aspects of the recovery process
on public spaces in the historic center of Quito, developed from the first modernity,
to relate and understand today. The broad general historical context of Quito
developed by Eduardo Kingman, urban center transformation towards tourism, raised
by Inés del Pino and concepts of public space have guided this research. Allowing
emphasize that interventions from the historic center were not adequate, by the
expulsion of vulnerable social actors in heritage areas.
The process of developing the communication product (preproduction,
production and postproduction) corresponding to a cultural magazine comprised of
four sections describe: Central Theme, My neighborhood, Interviews and use of
space, each oriented to emphasize the heterogeneity of the historical center, to
understand that the recovery of public spaces should start from the local and then
think of tourism that frequents the historic center of Quito. Through interviews with
Inés del Pino and Paola de la Vega, evidence that measures and policies developed
when intervening in heritage areas are not taken of models from other countries, but
many fail because they forget the cultural value that have social actors and rather
they hide the visible, as street vendors, street theater actors, among others. A contrast
between the sectors of San Roque, La Cantera, May 24 and La Ronda allow us to
understand this problem of recovery. |
