Sumario: In this paper the performance of internal combustion engines and gas turbines that consume fossil fuel for electricity generation in power plants is analyzed. Obtaining biodiesel from vegetable origin, obtained by a process of transesterification of palm oil and its possible physical-chemical compatibility with conventional petroleum-derived diesel in order to determine the possibility of replacing investigated studied. Regulations issued in Ecuador for both the electricity sector as related to the use of biodiesel for the transport sector is applied. The varying costs of producing power plants that use diesel with biodiesel potential replacements in various scenarios are analyzed. Finally, the prefinancial feasibility of replacing diesel with biodiesel research.
