Sumario: This article presents a new and efficient method to solve the problem of the optimal location of disconnectors in power distribution systems with the improvement of reliability indicators associated to the frequency with which the transitory and permanent faults of the distribution network affect. A technique of optimal location of disconnecting devices is proposed, in which the planning and design of the substations is considered from an economic technical perspective using a meta-heuristic colony resolution approach of ants for radial distribution systems. The model is focused on minimizing the SAIDI index. As a solution strategy we propose a methodology that considers a search scheme, based on the behavior of the ants. In order to verify the validity of the algorithm, specialized software is used and the results are applied to real IEEE data for 30 nodes.
