The purpose of this paper is to analyze and design the data network for the Health Area
No. 1 located in the Historic Center of Quito. The current state of the installed network,
analyze physical aspects and establish logical requirements to be consider in the network
design. The physical and logical design of the voice and data network is based on the
information provided by the institution and its specific requirements. It is proposed to use
the layers model with a variation on the normal classification, by substituting the core and
distribution layers with a single one known as the collapsed-core.
For the network security it was recommended to use a firewall and an authentication server
which will provide confidence and integrity to the network. The suggested quality of
service (QoS) is to include a traffic classifier based on the relevance of the network. This
paper proposes new services for the network, such as: Voice over IP (VoIP) and wireless
connectivity using an Access Point, and the sizing for the required bandwidth which
obtained result was 13.6Mbps.
Finally, it analyzed the economic feasibility of the project based on the Internal Rate of
Return (IRR) and the Net Present Value (NPV), the obtained results show that the whole
project will be profitable at the third year, having as results for the NPV a value of
12.008,05 USD and a IRR of 18,1%. |
