Sumario: The following article is about the importance of the city and public spaces to generate cultural exchanges and identity through the media. Communication occurs from different human interactions, it needs spaces to be developed. From this, it goes generating a favourable environment to flow the culture and identity, the public spaces are the way through the dialogue happen, the many experiences of people come together and generate new forms of identity and culture. This leads us to wonder if, citizens and the authorities will be aware of the importance about the city as a communication space that generates culture and identity. The objective of this investigation is to establish the awareness of citizens on the importance of the city as a space for cultural communication and identity construction through the use of public spaces. The object of study is the street La Ronda. Being this a space where the people come motivated by tradition this place offers such as food and colonial architecture. Most of people think we have to empower the spaces because they are places where you can generate culture and identity through dialogue and, the work to create these spaces for meetings that serve as communication mechanism belong to the authorities and inhabitants. There are some people who are not aware about the importance of public spaces, this is a problem.
