Sumario: The neighborhood crime is a complex problem whose origin be caused only by a lack of economic resources, can not be tackled in a linear fashion through violent measures on the part of society, or hardening of convictions promoted by the State . Currently speeches around the neighborhood crime are based on the social construction of the media which influence social perception of residents, police and local authorities of the district San Jorge del Tena canton, the social construction of crime by the media are framed from an alarmist social perception, built by television, radio, press presented to the public news that usually have a high degree of violence (robbery, kidnapping, rape, etc.) generated into society social perception of insecurity dominated by crime which in turn causes the citizenship acquiring weapons, tougher sentences for people who committed some kind of crime. Within academia the subject of crime has been managed from a single or multiple causal positivist perspective. These linear and deterministic interpretations have generated local authorities superficially address the problem of crime, through strengthening of convictions, equipping weapons to the police and the improvement of prison but without understanding what social factors are , educational, economic causing the rise in crime.
