In the province of Bolivar, in the locality of Guaranda is located the parish of Salinas de Guaranda named for the salt mines that exist in this area, and that a principle was the only source of labor for the inhabitants of Salinas In the early 70s, the Italian priest Antonio Polo came from Venice to Salinas de Guaranda to start a work of evangelization. The religious discovered the potential of the people, the resources of the area and especially the solidarity, it is with these bases that Father Antonio begins to undertake small projects of endeavor where labor and raw material resources are mainly of Salinas The endeavor that was generated in Salinas is recognized on a national level because it has been able to overcome in the majority of the population the extreme poverty, through popular and solidarity economy that has as its objective the common good Currently the foundations that include the group the Salinerito possess an administrative functionality isolated from the group as regulator, it is for this reason that it is often without a comprehensive logic between if, in spite of that operationally are intertwined, this generates a loss of identity with the mark in relation to all the products generated by the group.
