Following the objective to present an alternative material for building piles, the Iriartea deltoidea palm also known as Pambil was studied. It has been established certain zones in Ecuador where it can be found, its physical and mechanical properties are necessary to be considered pile, it also has an accelerated aging method which helps establish the material’s durability. Comparing the results of the mechanical process which were acquired in the laboratory using pieces with and without deterioration, the results determine the material’s acceptance as a pile by having resisted the mechanical deterioration above the minimum |
